I was knocking my head against the wall after spending some 8 hours searching the web to try and solve it, when I stumbled upon your link.

Had same problem after a fresh complete system installation but thanks to you and your clear instructions I got it solved in no time.

on ie9 go to the gear on the right/
click internet options/ click advanced tab.
click reset, then apply.
close ie9 reopen & start watching videos.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU!!! Man, this issue has had me pulling my hair out for about a week or so. I had also tried every single solution I had come across to no avail. It was step 10 that was the missing link and really helped me out on this.

This is what worked for me…downloaded Google Chrome, set it as my homepage then went on imvu.com which then told me that i didn’t have the required plug in and to “click here” to get it. I clicked on it, it downloaded and i went on Youtube then the videos played. Next day i went on Youtube expecting the same old message telling me i didn’t have the flash player etc but to my amazement the videos played and there was no message saying i don’t have the flash player so woohoo!!!! This is after months of agro with my adobe flash player…uninstalling then reinstalling. This worked for me and its worth a try if the other suggestions don’t work like they didn’t for me. Thanks for the info. For me, just downloading the ActiveX Flash Player with the link you provided fixed my problem. I couldn’t seem to get flash to work in IE 8, and every time I went to the Adobe website, IE would freeze when trying to download the file.

flash stopped working on internet explorer. I went to

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

and downloaded

Download the Adobe Flash Player 10 Update for Windows and Macintosh (ZIP, 44 MB)

One by one i unzipped the files in the release folder.

Everything worked fine after this.

hope this helps! life without youtube is rubbish!
